EWPA- Trained Operator Yellow Card
Course Overview
The Trained Operator Card is proof of completion in one or more modules in various types of EWPs.
There are five different EWP training modules;
Vertical Lift (VL)
Scissor Lift (SL)
Self Propelled Boom (BL)
Trailer Mounted Boom (TL)
Truck Mounted Boom (TM)
Yellow Card training meets the two key objectives of the OH&S Acts in the following way: It confirms that the operators of specific types of EWPs have been trained in the safe use of the work platform.
The supplier, employer and operator all have documentary evidence that the required ‘duty of care’ has been met or exceeded.
Course Duration
Approximately 2-3 hours for one machine. Between 3-4 hours for two machines.

- Pre operational checks
- Set up machine
- Operate machine
- Shut down machine
- Written and practical assessment
Outcome
An interim record of training is issued on the day and can be used when operating machinery until you receive the yellow card. The Operator Yellow card will take a few weeks and will be posted to your home address.
Location
The training is conducted at WPTC facilities located in Arndell Park.
Training can also be conducted on site with the following requirements:
- a suitable machine/s with a current log book and a safe area to operate the machine/s
- minimum numbers apply
Course Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years old and be able to produce Identification e.g. drivers licence.
